The Love Destiny BL ending left me staring at my screen at midnight, waiting for a scene that never came. Have you ever loved a drama so much that the last episode actually hurt? That was me on 15 September 2026, when the tenth and final episode of the new Thai BL version of Love Destiny finished and I just sat there thinking, “Wait. That’s it?”
Love Destiny was my favourite Thai BL of 2026. I’m saying that first because everything I’m about to complain about comes from love, not hate. The story pulled me in from week one, the costumes were gorgeous, and the main hero? So handsome that I paused a few scenes just to stare. I’m not even sorry.
But the ending. I need to talk about the ending.
So in this post, I’ll walk you through what this remake is, what I loved, what the open ending did to my heart, and why I really, really think the writers and the director should give us one or two special episodes. If you’ve finished the show, I’d love to know if you felt the same way.
⚠ Spoiler warning
This post talks about the Love Destiny BL ending and the final episode in detail. If you haven’t watched all 10 episodes yet, read only up to the “What I loved” part, then come back after you finish.
What is Love Destiny (2026)? The BL remake in one minute
Love Destiny (Thai title: บุพเพสันนิวาส) is a 2026 Thai boys’ love series. It’s a remake of the hugely popular 2018 Love Destiny lakorn, and both versions come from the novel Bupphesanniwat by the Thai writer Rompaeng.
Here’s the basic story. Great is a young surgeon who has never really felt love for anyone. He feels empty, quits the hospital to find some meaning in life, and then an accident sends his soul back in time to the reign of King Narai in the Ayutthaya Kingdom. He wakes up inside the body of Gaew, a reckless troublemaker that everyone hates. And the person who hates Gaew the most? Dech, who grew up beside Gaew as a fellow disciple, almost like a brother.
Great tries to find a way home. When that fails, he starts fixing Gaew’s terrible reputation using what he knows from the modern world, like medicine, cooking and fighting skills. Slowly, Dech starts seeing a side of “Gaew” he never knew, and their feelings change.
Here are the quick facts, so you know exactly which version I’m talking about:

Love Destiny 2026 review: what I loved before the ending
Before I get emotional about the finale, let me give this show the credit it deserves. My Love Destiny 2026 review would be unfair if I only talked about the last 20 minutes.
The main hero is unfairly handsome
I’ll be honest. Part of the reason I watched every Tuesday was August as Dech. In the period costumes, with that serious face he keeps for most of the early episodes, he looked like he walked out of an old painting. When Dech finally softens, even a little, it hits so much harder because he’s been cold for so long.
And here’s a fun bit: August also sings the opening theme, “Oh…My Heart”. I didn’t know that at first. Once I found out, I stopped skipping the intro.
The time-travel idea still works
A modern doctor stuck in old Ayutthaya is such a fun setup. Great keeps using things he knows from today in a world that has no idea what he’s doing, and everyone around him thinks Gaew has lost his mind. It’s funny, but it’s also a little lonely, because nobody can really understand where he comes from. That loneliness is exactly what made me want Dech to understand him one day. (Keep that thought. It comes back to hurt us later.)

It looks beautiful
The palace scenes, the boats, the temples, the clothes. If you’ve ever seen photos of the Ayutthaya Historical Park, you’ll recognise that old-world feeling. The show also brings in real historical figures from King Narai’s time, like Constantine Phaulkon and Maria Guyomar de Pinha, which made me go down a little history rabbit hole at 1 am. Not a complaint.

It was brave to remake it as BL
When this BL version was announced in September 2025, fans were honestly divided. Some were excited, and some were worried the classic would be “disrespected”. I understand both sides. The 2018 version is a big deal in Thailand. But I think the team took the story seriously, and the slow change from hate to care between Dech and Gaew/Great felt real to me.

The Love Destiny BL ending explained (big spoilers)
Okay. Deep breath. Here’s what the Love Destiny BL ending felt like to me, and why I’m still not over it.
The final episode doesn’t close the story in a clear way. It’s an open ending. And the Dech we see at the end doesn’t remember anything from their past together. All those episodes of slowly falling for each other, all that pain and growing, and he doesn’t carry any of it with him.
I kept waiting for one small moment. A look. A flash of memory. Anything that told me, “Yes, he knows. He remembers.” It never came.
Maybe the writers wanted us to imagine our own happy ending. I get why some stories do that. But after ten episodes of waiting for Dech to really see Great, an open ending felt less like a gift and more like a door closing quietly while I was still standing outside.
If you’re searching for the Love Destiny BL ending explained in one line, here’s my honest version: the romance happens, but the recognition never does. And for me, that recognition was the whole point.
Why Dech never called him Great (and why it broke my heart)
This is the part that bothers me the most, even more than the open ending.
From the start, Great tells the truth. Again and again, he says he isn’t Gaew. He says his soul is from the future, that it just ended up in Gaew’s body. He’s basically begging to be seen as himself.
And Dech? Dech never believes him. Not really. He thinks Gaew is acting crazy. In Dech’s mind, he falls in love with Gaew, his old fellow disciple, the brother-like boy he grew up with, who suddenly started behaving very strangely.
Not once does Dech call him by his real name. Not once does he call him Great.

Think about how lonely that is for Great. He’s in a different century, in a different body, and the person he loves most only ever sees the face of someone else. Every “I love you” is said to Gaew’s name. That’s why the open ending feels so empty to me. The story spent ten episodes building up to a moment where Dech says “Great” and finally believes him, and then just… skipped it.
I don’t even need a big dramatic scene. Dech saying one word, his real name, would have been enough. One word. That’s how close this show was to being perfect for me.
Questions the Love Destiny BL ending left me with
After the credits rolled, my brain wouldn’t switch off. I had so many questions that I wrote them in my notes app at 1 am like a detective. Here are the ones I still can’t answer.
Does Dech love Gaew, or does he love Great?
This is the big one. Dech fell in love with the person in front of him, the kind, clever, funny one who saves people with strange medicine. But that person was Great the whole time. So who is Dech really in love with? A face, or a soul? I want to believe it’s the soul. The show never gave me proof.
What happened to the real Gaew?
If Great’s soul was living in Gaew’s body, where was Gaew’s own soul all this time? The ending doesn’t really help me here either, and I think a special episode could explain it in just a few minutes.
Is the open ending a hint for a season 2?
Part of me hopes the open ending is on purpose, like the team is keeping the door open for more. The 2018 story got a sequel, after all. Nothing has been announced for the BL version as I write this, so for now it’s only hope. But I’m holding on to it.
Would one name really change everything?
For me, yes. I keep coming back to this. If Dech had said “Great” even once, every question above would feel softer. It would mean he finally saw the truth, even if the ending stayed open. Sometimes one word does more than a whole episode.
If you have your own theory, please share it. I’ve read my notes so many times now that I need fresh eyes.
Love Destiny 2018 vs 2026: why the original got extra episodes
Here’s something that made me even more sure about my special episode wish. When I looked up the 2018 version, I found out it had 15 episodes plus 3 special episodes. Later, the story got a sequel series too, and in 2022 there was even a film, Love Destiny: The Movie.
So the original had room to breathe. The BL remake had only 10 episodes to tell a huge time-travel love story. No wonder the ending feels rushed.
Look at that “Episodes” row again. Fifteen plus three, versus ten. The 2018 team clearly knew fans needed more time with these characters. The same director is behind both versions, so I really hope he remembers how much those extras meant to people.
A Love Destiny special episode: my open request to the writers and director
So here’s my request, written as nicely as I can. To the writers, the director Phawat Panangkasiri, and everyone at Century UU Thailand: please give us at least one Love Destiny special episode. Two would be a dream.
I’m not asking you to change the story. I’m asking you to finish it. Here’s what I’d love to see:
My special episode wishlist
- Dech recalls the past. Just let his memories come back, slowly or all at once. I’ll take either.
- Dech finally believes Great came from the future. No more “Gaew is acting crazy”. He should understand that the man he loves is a different soul.
- Dech says his real name. One scene where he looks at him and says “Great”. That’s the moment this whole story has been building to.
- A clear, happy ending. Not open, not “imagine it yourself”. Show them together, both knowing exactly who the other is.
- Bonus: a soft little after-story. A walk, a meal, the two of them laughing about everything they went through.
That’s it. That’s all I want. I don’t think it’s too much to ask, because the original version already showed that specials can make fans so happy.

How fans can ask for it, the right way
If you want a Love Destiny special episode too, here’s what I’d suggest. Comment kindly on the official posts from the studio and the cast. Watch the show on the official platform, because views on legal platforms are the numbers that studios actually look at. Share your favourite scenes with the drama’s official hashtag. Be polite. Studios listen to fans who are loud and kind, not loud and rude.
And please, never go after the actors. They didn’t write the ending.
Where to watch Love Destiny BL legally
If you haven’t started yet, or you want to rewatch (I’ve already rewatched my favourite scenes), here’s where to watch Love Destiny BL the right way:
- iQIYI: the uncut version with subtitles. This is what most international fans use. Check the iQIYI app or website and search “Love Destiny 2026”.
- Channel 3: the original Thai TV broadcast, for viewers in Thailand.
Please don’t use random free streaming sites. They’re illegal, they’re often full of scam ads, and every view there does nothing for the studio. If we want a special episode, legal views are how we show the studio this story is worth more money. You can read more about how I handle this on my Copyright / DMCA page.
Who should watch it (even with this ending)?
Even after everything I said, would I still recommend it? Yes. Honestly, yes. Here’s who I think will enjoy it:
- You love historical and fantasy BL with costumes, palaces and time travel.
- You enjoy enemies to lovers, especially slow ones where the hate turns into care bit by bit.
- You watched the 2018 version and you’re curious how the BL remake handles the same story.
- You don’t mind open endings. If you’re the kind of viewer who likes imagining your own last scene, you might even like it more than I did.
Who might want to wait? If open endings make you angry (hi, it’s me), maybe hold on for a while and see if a special episode gets announced. Then you can watch everything together and skip the heartbreak I went through.
A friendly note for anyone new to Thai BL: this show is a romance with a lot of history mixed in. It’s more about emotions, misunderstandings and slowly growing feelings than anything else. If that’s your kind of story, start with episode 1 and give it at least three episodes before you decide.
What I’m watching now: Fool in Love
After Love Destiny ended, I needed something new to fill my Tuesday nights. Right now, I’m watching Fool in Love, a 2026 Thai BL that started in early October 2026 on iQIYI. It’s based on a Chinese web novel, and it’s the first time its two lead actors, Ing and Yok, are paired together.
I’m still in the middle of it, so I won’t judge it yet. But I’ll tell you this much: I’m watching every new episode with one hope. Please, give me a proper ending this time. I’ll write about it when I finish, so check my BL dramas section later.
My final feelings on the Love Destiny BL ending
Love Destiny is still my favourite Thai BL of 2026. The handsome lead, the beautiful Ayutthaya world, the slow change from hate to love. I enjoyed almost every minute of it.
But the Love Destiny BL ending left a hole in the story. Dech never remembered. Dech never believed. Dech never once said “Great”. And for a story about a lost soul looking for someone to truly see him, that’s the one thing that needed to happen.
So writers, director, Century UU Thailand: if you ever read this, one or two special episodes. Please. Let Dech remember. Let him say the name.
Now I want to hear from you. Did the Love Destiny BL ending make you happy, or did it break your heart like it broke mine? Would you watch a special episode? Tell me in the comments, or write to me through my contact page. And if you’d like to know a bit more about who’s behind these rants and reviews, here’s my About page.
Happy watching, and may your favourite dramas always get the endings they deserve.
